Leg protectors

Many riders use leg protection before and/or after driving, but also as therapeutic treatment, or to prevent problems. However, there are a few points for attention if you have to use leg protection - we think.😉

Tendon injuries are normally either a consequence of a struggle, or (repeated)  overload. In the first case, a protector can help prevent new problems, in the second case you (in addition to treatment) also have to look for the cause of the overload and take that way :-).

Now it is the case with horse legs that they prefer not to get too hot. After all, too much heat (heat) increases the chance of damage to tendons, partly due to degradation of proteins, which tendons are made of.

While driving, the temperature in the legs can rise considerably, and by "packing" the legs Proters or bandages and pads, it is more difficult to get rid of the heat and the temperature increases even further.

That is why at Equinics we don't have many "normal" bandages and protectors in our range, actually only for "emergencies", such as the Xshapes and the Trizones, both of which are very light and airy, but offer good protection against a stroke or bump. And the Sports Medicine boat for when your horse needs some extra support, at or after an injury.

You can also think of the Excercise bandages of IncrediWear. These can support the tendons and tires in the recovery training, and the material is well regulating. After driving you can spray these bandages- while your horse still has them, so that they give extra cooling effect for about half an hour after driving. A very nice and supporting bandage with cooling effect - even if it is not wet!

Remember: This info blog is based on our (the people behind Equinics) personal experience, both in terms of the problems, products, therapies and gadgets that are discussed, but also in terms of our horse experience in general. 😃 We would like to emphasize that we think you should always ask your vet for advice if your horse needs help.😊
