Novafon therapy, which has been successful in humans for many decades, can also be used in our horses and of course in dogs, cats and other animals. The targeted local vibrations reduce pain, relieve tension and normalize movement patterns as a result of box rest or other resting positions, for example due to an injury or illness. Animals often find this mild form of vibration therapy very comfortable and relaxing and you often see them yawning, nibbling or licking during a treatment.

The soft sound waves that Novafon emits stimulate the body's own regeneration mechanisms and relax tense muscles. The vibrations promote blood circulation and stimulate the body's own healing process.

App

Via a Bluetooth connection, the Novafon Plus 2 can be linked to the NOVAFON app, which enables even easier and more individual treatment. In the app you can adjust the frequency and intensity, use a timer and see how many hours your Novafon has already worked. You will also find a few short treatment videos (in English).

The handy "travel lock" on the Plus 2 prevents the device from accidentally turning on during transport, and thanks to the IP protection class 44, the Novafon Plus 2 is also better protected against splash water. Unlike its predecessors, the Novafon Plus 2 has a magnetic charging plug, which better protects the connection against dirt and dust. The working mechanism of the Novafon devices is based on the 'gate control theory' - a theory of pain processing by Melzack and Wall (1965). Pain impulses are transmitted to the spinal cord by special nerve fibers in the body. The theory assumes that there is a "pain gate" in the spinal cord that decides whether or not pain impulses are sent to the brain.

This gate can be influenced by various factors, for example by new sensory stimuli (such as touch, vibration, temperature, etc.).

With this theory in mind, it becomes clear that pain treatment and therapy is not only successful through medication, but that other therapeutic measures such as massage, vibration, exercise or relaxation techniques can also positively influence pain perception.

With the Novafon devices, vibrations with an acoustic frequency are transmitted vertically up to 6 cm deep into the tissue. This deep stimulation overshadows the actual pain stimulus. The local vibration therapy feels like a pleasant massage, but has a much deeper effect.

The signal processing processes for transmitting pain are largely similar in humans and animals.  Animals often relax immediately under this treatment, which can also contribute to pain reduction on a mental level.

The stimulation of the blood circulation caused by vibrations makes the muscle structures, ligaments, tendons and vessels available again, which also stimulates metabolism as a positive side effect.

3 frequencies – 100Hz, 75Hz and 50Hz

The Novafon Plus 2 works with 3 frequencies, the effect of which has been demonstrated in several studies: 100 Hz for pain relief, 75 Hz for muscle activation and 50 Hz for tissue loosening and relaxation. All frequencies can also be adjusted in intensity – from very soft to powerful. You can operate them on the device itself, or via the Novafon app with even more setting options.

The gentle treatment with Novafon enables a wide range of treatments from head to toe. This means that even sensitive parts of the body can be treated comfortably.

Vertical stimulation
Due to the vertical stimulation, the effect penetrates deep into the tissue. In this way, the vibrations also reach the deep tissues where the treatment takes place.

Novafon devices have a depth effect of 6 cm +, in contrast to many other therapeutic devices that only provide surface stimulation.

Novafon Plus is easy to use, whether you are treating your horse or using it at home on yourself. The intensity can be adjusted up and down depending on the location of the pain, providing deep and effective relief even in large muscle groups.

Thanks to its ergonomic design, it fits perfectly in the hand, even during prolonged use. In addition, it is cordless, so you have freedom of movement when treating your horse. No cords to get in the way during treatment.

Treatment

We think it is important that you first discuss with your own veterinarian which treatment is best for your horse and its problems.

A Novafon treatment should last a total of 10 to 15 minutes and can be repeated daily. Adjust the intensity individually to the horse, as the vibrations are perceived very differently, especially in the head area. Always treat both sides. Always start with the mildest intensity and adjust gradually.

Preferably first treat entire muscle (groups) to stretch and relax them, with caressing or circular movements. The treatment can then be continued with light pressure or small circular movements on the stress points.
