Novafon is a device for local vibration therapy using sound waves. It is particularly suitable for the treatment of muscle tension, pain relief and regeneration in both pets and owners!

Novafon therapy, which has been successful in humans for decades, can also be used in horses, as well as in dogs, cats and other pets. The targeted local vibrations reduce pain, relieve tension and normalize movement patterns that have arisen as a result of box rest, sick paddock or forced rest, for example due to injuries or illness. Animals often find this gentle form of therapy very comfortable and relaxing, and you can often see them yawning, smacking or licking during a treatment.

The soft sound waves that Novafon emits stimulate the body's own regeneration mechanisms and relax tense muscles. The vibrations promote blood circulation and stimulate the body's own healing process.

Novafon is slightly less powerful than its 'big brother' Novafon Plus. They both have 2 frequencies and 3 intensities, but the difference is precisely in the intensity.  The highest intensity of a Novafon (white) is comparable to the average intensity of a Novafon Plus (anthracite).

That is why we find the (white) Novafon very suitable for small(er) pets such as dogs and cats and we recommend the powerful Novafon Plus for use on horses, with their larger and more powerful muscles.

Benefits of local vibration therapy

Compared to massage, local vibration therapy not only treats the muscles from above, but gently penetrates more than 6 cm deep into the tissue. In this way, even deep structures are reached, muscle tone is regulated and blood circulation is stimulated. The muscles are better supplied with oxygen and metabolic processes are stimulated. At the same time, the gentle vibrations locally relieve pain - without the use of medication.

Thanks to the variable intensity from 0.3 - 4.0 mm, depending on the type of device, stimulation can be generated in a very gentle way. Therefore, it can be treated not only on very sensitive body parts, but also on compact muscle groups.

The working mechanism of the Novafon devices is based on the 'gate control theory' - a theory of pain processing by Melzack and Wall (1965). Pain impulses are transmitted to the spinal cord by special nerve fibers in the body. The theory assumes that there is a "pain gate" in the spinal cord that decides whether or not pain impulses are sent to the brain.

This gate can be influenced by various factors, for example by new sensory stimuli (such as touch, vibration, temperature, etc.).

With this theory in mind, it becomes clear that pain treatment and therapy is not only successful through medication, but that other therapeutic measures such as massage, vibration, exercise or relaxation techniques can also positively influence pain perception.

With the Novafon devices, vibrations with an acoustic frequency are transmitted vertically up to 6 cm deep into the tissue. This deep stimulation overshadows the actual pain stimulus. The local vibration therapy feels like a pleasant massage, but has a much deeper effect.

The signal processing processes for transmitting pain are largely similar in humans and animals.  Animals often relax immediately under this treatment, which can also contribute to pain reduction on a mental level.

The stimulation of the blood circulation caused by vibrations makes the muscle structures, ligaments, tendons and vessels available again, which also stimulates metabolism as a positive side effect.

2 frequencies
Novafon sound wave devices are certified medical products and work with 2 frequencies whose effectiveness has been proven in numerous studies: 100 Hertz for pain relief and muscle stimulation and 50 Hertz for loosening tight tissue and muscle relaxation. Both frequencies can also be varied in 3 different intensities - from very soft to strong.

The gentle treatment with Novafon enables a wide range of treatments from head to toe. This means that even sensitive parts of the body can be treated comfortably.

Vertical stimulation
Due to the vertical stimulation, the effect penetrates deep into the tissue. In this way, the vibrations also reach the deep tissues where the treatment takes place.

Novafon devices have a depth effect of 6 cm +, in contrast to many other therapeutic devices that only provide surface stimulation.

Easy to use
Novafon is easy to use, whether you are treating your horse or using it at home on yourself. The intensity can be adjusted up and down depending on the location of the pain, providing deep and effective relief even in large muscle groups.

Thanks to its ergonomic design, it fits perfectly in the hand, even during prolonged use. In addition, it is cordless, so you have freedom of movement when treating your horse, dog or yourself. No cords to get in the way during treatment.

Treatment

We think it is important that you first discuss with your own veterinarian which treatment is best for your horse and its problems.

A Novafon treatment should last a total of 10 to 15 minutes and can be repeated daily. Adjust the intensity individually to the horse, as the vibrations are perceived very differently, especially in the head area. Always treat both sides. Always start with the mildest intensity and adjust gradually.

Preferably first treat entire muscle (groups) to stretch and relax them, with caressing or circular movements. The treatment can then be continued with light pressure or small circular movements on the stress points.
