  • Omschrijving
  • The Flexineb E3 Cup is the heart of the Flexineb E3. Fluids intended to work in the lungs are placed in the Flexineb E3 Cup and converted into a fine mist that the horse can inhale. It is a consumable component with a lifespan that depends on the fluids and quantities nebulized into the cup, as well as how well the cup is maintained.

The Flexineb E3 Cup contains 10 ml of liquid, but can be expanded to 30 ml using the Flexineb Cup Volume Extender. The liquid is converted into a fine mist (aerosol) by vibrations in the mesh/membrane (90,000 times per second), which acts as a micropump.

The performance and longevity of the Flexineb E3 Cup are highly dependent on maintenance between uses. The type of drug or liquid also affects longevity, because the technology must pump the liquid through tiny holes to form the aerosol.

If a high viscosity liquid (e.g. honey) is placed in the Flexineb E3 Cup, it may not be able to be nebulized. Dilution may help if the fluid is water-based. If the fluid is oil-based, diluting it will not help.

Another factor that affects performance is whether the drug or liquid is a solution or a mixture with floating particles is.

    • Solutions have the active substance completely dissolved in the liquid (such as sugar in coffee).
    • Liquids with suspended particles have the active substance floating in the liquid as small solid particles (such as sand in water).

    Product variants

    • Gray: The gray E3 Cup is the universal cup and compatible with most nebulizer fluids.
    • Green: The green E3 Cup is suitable for thicker liquids that are more difficult to atomize.
    • Blue: The blue E3 Cup is suitable for thin liquids and smaller doses.

Lifespan of the Flexineb E3 Cup
The Flexineb E3 Cup is a consumable component. The lifespan depends greatly on the volume and type of liquids that are atomized.

Average lifespan: up to 100 applications*.
*Based on nebulizing 10 ml of physiological saline solution (0.9%) per use – total 1000 ml.
*Using other liquids may reduce the lifespan of the cup by up to 50%.

  • More info
  • Cleaning and maintenance

    • Clean the Flexineb E3 Cup after each use
    • Always protect the electronics with the clear cap
    • Clean with distilled water and one drop of mild dishwashing liquid
    • Rinse well and allow to air dry
    • Never use sharp objects
    • Do not use strong or chemical cleaning agents

    Technical information

    • Atomization rate: Typically 1.0 ml/min with 0.9% NaCl solution. The atomization speed is highly dependent on the liquid to be atomized.
    • Aerosol droplet size: The Flexineb E3 generates aerosol droplets of a size that is suitable for the horse's airways. The droplet size depends greatly on the atomized liquid.

    Flexineb E3 Cup volume
The Flexineb E3 Cup contains 10 ml of liquid, but can be expanded to 30 ml with the Flexineb Cup Volume Extender. The Flexineb E3 Controller has a timer function, so when using the extender the controller must be restarted to complete the nebulization.

    Warranty
The Flexineb E3 Cup is a consumable component. The lifespan depends on the volume, type of fluids and maintenance, therefore it is not covered by warranty.

  • FAQ
  • What is the Flexineb E3 Cup?
The Flexineb E3 Cup is the heart of the Flexineb system. It is the part that contains the liquid and converts it into a fine mist. This is done via a delicate gold-coated mesh membrane that vibrates 90,000 times per second and creates the aerosol that the horse breathes.

The Flexineb E3 Cup works hard and contains sensitive parts. Therefore it is one consumption component which naturally wears out and needs to be replaced regularly to maintain consistent performance.

How do I know which color Flexineb E3 Cup to use?
The choice depends on the liquid you want to nebulize:

    • Gray Cup – Ideal for most thin, watery solutions. If the liquid flows easily (such as salt dissolved in water), the gray cup is usually the best choice.
    • Green Cup – For slightly thicker liquids or liquids with suspended particles. For example, a liquid containing sugar that is only partially dissolved, or slightly thicker than water. If you have difficulty atomizing liquid in the gray cup – even at higher power levels – the green cup is a better option.
    • Blue Cup – Best for small amounts of thin liquids.

The color codes of the Flexineb E3 Cups (gray, green, blue) will soon be indicated via the color of the lid instead of a sticker. The cup itself remains completely the same - only the lid is new and different. In the initial phase of the transition, some orders may contain cups with different lids.

    Tips for best results:

    • Start with the gray cup at power level 1.
    • Only increase power if necessary – slower nebulization is often more effective.
    • Do not use the green cup for very thin solutions, as this may atomize too quickly and cause drips.
    • Use a separate Flexineb E3 Cup for each fluid to extend life and ensure optimal performance.

What works well – and what doesn't?

    • Works well: Water solutions that are thin and completely dissolved (such as salt in water).
    • Can work: Slightly thicker liquids or light liquids with suspended particles (such as sugar water with some residue). Some composite substances are not suitable for atomization and can cause the cup to wear out faster.
    • Not suitable:
      • Thick or sticky liquids (such as syrup or honey)
      • Oily liquids (e.g. essential oils)
      • Liquids with visible suspended particles that are too large (such as sand in water)

If the water solution is too thick, dilution can help. Diluting does not help with oil-containing liquids.

Because the Flexineb E3 Cup contains sensitive parts such as a vibrating mesh, it is a consumable component that must be replaced regularly to continue functioning correctly.

How many times can I use my cup before I need to replace it?
The lifespan varies depending on the aerosolized liquids and how often the cup is cleaned. The gold-coated mesh can corrode over time from certain liquids. Thicker liquids or liquids with suspended particles can also gradually clog the mesh.

It is recommended to use separate cups for different liquids to extend service life and prevent cross-contamination. Too high a power level for a particular liquid may damage the cup.

The Flexineb E3 Cup is designed for an expected life of up to 100 applications when using 10 ml of physiological saline solution (0.9%). With other fluids the lifespan can be up to 50% shorter. Users who nebulize specialty or medicinal fluids should expect a shorter lifespan. It is wise to always have a spare cup in stock.

How long does it take to nebulize 10 ml of physiological saline solution (0.9%)?
With the gray-marked Flexineb E3 Cup it lasts typically 8–12 minutes for 10 ml nebulize physiological saline solution. Slight variations in nebulization time for the same fluid and volume are normal and not a cause for concern.

The atomization speed depends on both the liquid to be atomized and the power level. Thicker liquids require more time. If a liquid atomizes more slowly than expected, you can try increasing the power level. For thicker fluids that still cause problems at level 3 with the gray cup, switching to the green cup may be necessary.

How do I know when I need to replace my Flexineb E3 Cup?
You know it's time to replace the Flexineb E3 Cup when – despite proper use and cleaning – it suddenly stops working or functions abnormally. Signs may be that the fluid drains from the cup instead of being aerosolized, or that performance decreases. Visually check the cup for wear. If this is discovered, it is time for replacement.

It is important to replace the Flexineb E3 Cup regularly, so it is useful to always have a spare in stock.
