Blaze™ Wellness System
Want to monitor your horse’s heart rate, gait, and well-being in real time—without a chest strap or electrodes on the girth? Garmin Blaze is a removable, lightweight sensor in a durable neoprene tail strap that sends accurate health data directly to your smartphone while you ride, train, or transport your horse.
The strap wraps around the horse’s tail and secures with Velcro straps, so the sensor sits inside the strap on the underside of the tail—and requires no special skin preparation. The sensor collects data while in motion and under varying environmental conditions—and can easily be removed from the strap for cleaning and charging.
This version is ideal for those who only want to use the free Garmin Blaze app on their smartphone—or if you already own a compatible Garmin watch.

How does it work?
Wrap the tail strap around your horse’s tail and secure it with the Velcro straps—the sensor is located inside the strap on the underside of the tail and collects data without any special skin preparation. Then connect the sensor via Bluetooth to the Blaze app on your smartphone, and you’re ready to go.
You can monitor your horse’s heart rate and heart rate zones, gait, steps, distance, and speed in real time. The system automatically alerts you in case of an abnormal heart rate, changes in skin temperature, or a dangerous heat index—the combination of current air temperature and humidity that guides you on when it is safe to ride.
Post-Activity Insights
After your ride, review the session in the Blaze app with an overview of recovery rate, time in heart rate zones, skin temperature, activity highlights, and much more. Blaze tracks training, recovery, and transport—so you have data no matter what your horse is doing.
Flexible for multiple horses
The strap and sensor can be used on multiple horses. You create individual profiles in the app, so you’re always comparing the right horse to itself.

What can you measure?
Heart rate and heart rate zones, skin temperature, heat score, steps, gait, distance, speed, and activity type (outdoor training, indoor training, recovery, transportation). GPS location is available when the sensor is paired with a GPS-enabled smartphone or Garmin watch.
