Pharmakas® AKS Liquid

Some horses simply can’t help but gnaw and chew—on ropes, blankets, stall walls, doors, or feed troughs. In addition to worn-out equipment, there is a real risk that the horse will ingest splinters, fibers, or other foreign objects, which in the worst case can cause serious injury or colic.

Pharmakas® AKS Liquid is a bitter liquid applied to furnishings and equipment—not the horse itself. The bitter agent makes the items unappealing to chew on, and the product is also a good supplement in efforts to reduce cribbing. The effect is long-lasting, and the more often you treat the surfaces, the better it works.

How to Use It

Pharmakas® AKS Liquid can be applied to most common surfaces and objects in the stable: ropes, blankets, halters, bandages, stall walls, doors, and feed troughs. Always test the product on an inconspicuous area first to ensure the surface can withstand it. Wear gloves when applying the liquid. The product must not come into direct contact with the horse.

Important information before use

Pharmakas® AKS Liquid contains capsicum as its active bitter ingredient. It is harmless to both horses and humans, but that is precisely why it is effective at preventing the horse from gnawing. Since the product must not be used directly on the horse, it is important to be mindful if your horse competes under anti-doping regulations (ADMR)—make sure there is no accidental skin contact with treated objects, and be extra thorough if the horse is scheduled to compete shortly after treatment.
